Why is that?!

I read a joke online about guitarists last week. Being a guitarist myself, I couldn't help but notice the truth behind it. It goes like this: "How many guitarists does it take to screw a light-bulb? Five. One to actually do it and four to say "I could've done better"... Which I find so true! Even as I speak, I hear bickering over which musician is better. "Eddie Van halen is a fake" here, and "Steve Vai can't play for sh*t" there...I don't mean to come clean on this since I know I've had my share of critisism before but some people really go as far as insulting a performer just to prove his point. The question I ask is Why? Isn't music supposed to be freedom of expression? Then to these people I ask, you mean to say you express better than the other person? I also hate it when my fellow guitarists base skill on speed of their legato playing! All these players base the ability of famous guitar players on their "notes per second". Why is that?! Les Paul and B.B. King never shredded. And they kicks ass in guitar playing! They've just got to learn that music's gotta have soul! They're turning it too much of a science and relying too much on math! Dammit! That's why this is my hobby to begin with! to forget all the math and science sh*t! Yes, there is science involved with it. But they've all forgotten about the art that comes along.

I love this guitar!

I just have to mention, I saw Steve Vai playing this guitar on Whitesnake's music video "The Deeper the love" and I have to say I really love what he did with it! Turns out this isn't a production model.. Damn Ibanez people! It's just a regular Ibanez Universe 7 string customized with little mirrors stuck to it like a disco ball. It turns out that this guitar was used by him on tour with Whitesnake during his "For the love of God" solo. At the end, he'd toss it in the air and a cable would lift the guitar up the rafters which would explain that little buckle on the strap. I just love it! Does anybody know where I could get those little mirrors and maybe a donor guitar? I'd like to make one of those myself!

Featured music:

"Anybody's been left hangin' out here with a set of blue balls on them.. man! it aint no fun!" exclaimed Van halen vocalist Sammy Hagar on their song "Finish what ya started" on their 1991 "For unlawful carnal knowledge tour". This week's song is another song from Van halen's 1988 album "OU812". "Finish what ya started" in it's entireity is about unfulfilled sex. This single peaked at number 2 on The Billboard mainstream rock charts and number 13 on The hot 100 in 1988.

In 'n out"

Sorting out my burger photos a couple of hours ago, I stumbled across this photo I took a few months back. During our trip to California last summer, I ate in this burger joint called "In 'n out Burger". It wasn't the first time I've heard of the place. I've been hearing about how good it's burgers were for sometime even before the trip. As we went in, I noticed how few menu items there were... probably around four, I don't know. Being the burger afficionado I claim to be, I got the biggest one they got in the menu; the "Double-Double" you see in the picture. I found it really delicious. And it took a couple of weeks before I learned more about the company that makes these. Amazingly, the key reason why these things taste so good was because it's incredibly fresh! They also carry a "secret" menu which would explain why the menu up-front is so small. I'll make sure I get back to one of those when I get the chance. You should try it sometime!

I gotta say, this week was fun. It's like I never went to school the whole week! I started the first three days of this week in Tagaytay. Didnt go to school after that, and went on an outreach the following day. I feel lazy! I gotta look ahead though.. the fun part's over. Even if I wasn't really enjoying myself.

Here's a pickle:

Hours of boredom in the classroom finally amounted to something. Here's a thought; Look at the diagram above. Here's how it goes: Suppose two married couples, Don and Camille Johnson; and Luigi and Lindsay Smith have two babies. Suppose we name The Johnson's baby boy Wowie and The Smith's baby girl Iya. Let's say the two (magically) meet eachother and decide to get married and a couple of years after their marriage Luigi and Camille sadly pass away. But then the widow --lindsay, and the widower --Don, meet eachother and hook-up. Is it possible for the two to get married? And if so, what would become of their child? Wouldn't me, Iya and their offspring be half-siblings? And another distracting loop-hole that results from this is, what would Iya's middle name be? Since her maiden name is taken from her last name from when she was single which is her mom's current last name: Johnson. And she then married Wowie, her step-dad's son also a Johnson. Would that make her Iya Johnson Johnson? Most people agree that it IS possible once the marriage of Don and Lindsay happened after Wowie and Iya did. But they're no lawyers anyway. What do you think? Go make a sandwich and think this over, why dont you?

L.O.A

A few days back a friend of mine was told me that I haven't written anything personal on the blog in a looong time. What perfect timing! I have to say, these past weeks has just been a fu*ckin' roller-coaster ride. Say! have you ever been turned down? how about humiliated in public? I'm sure we've all had our fair share of those in life. But have you ever had to face both at the same time? I know I just did. Anyway that's beside the point. I'd just like to say that I'm gonna be departing from two of my three current bands for a while. Namely "The Furry little animals" and the other one in the works "Sanchez" The other one I'm leaving for good.(Fill in the blank) I'm gonna take a break from playing any of my instruments. I feel that I'm too absorbed with it. And if it's still worth saying anymore.. It caused me shame so I want to burn my guitar.
