Back to back!

First and foremost I'd like to thank the people who have supported our bands these past few weeks. I'm certain that without the support of you people who read this right now, we would not be here right where we are right now.I have to say, I had a blast performing for the school's battle of the bands this year! I loved the rig, the set and the crowd. And aside from all the fun this week, I'm definitely beat. I'm usually a slob but I haven't had more than six hours of sleep this week and all the playing's made my fingers calloused. But it goes without saying that being on top one last time was definitely well worth all of it... And I'd go through all of it if I could! But life's just simply telling me to go on with the next phase in my life. I'd also like to mention that I'd like to personally applaud this year's council for their valiant efforts and for supplying this years participants with a gorgeous rig. I'd like to know who went for the 5150 and Laney idea! It's sheer genius! The rig, along with my equipment was like milk and cookies... Thank you so very much!

The night after was also memorable. I remember just sitting down backstage with my rig all packed away just looking at the set. I thought to myself "What should I do tonight?". I knew I owed it to the audience that I should put on a good show. After all, they WERE the reason why I was there. At one point though, Aaron set me aside and told me that he was winning the best guitarist award this year and wanted to share it with me. I was honored to even be able to share it with him. It's almost satirical that for the second year in a row, Im the only one in the winning band with no individual award. But I thought that the support and validation of the audience and peers were a hundredfold compared to validation of the judges. And looking over a year back, remembering first teaching Aaron the pentatonic scales makes me very very proud of him. He's come along way and listening to all the solos he's perfomed. I say he's earned it.

The thing that people buzz me about that night was our last song. It was a song made famous by Velvet revolver entitled "Slither". Me and the band have performed it numerous of times and I thought that it needed some sprucing up. I remember mentioning to Luigi and Gabby before we went on stage that I had a surprise for them. Little did they know that I didn't know what I had for them! I started to think outrageous before the song. And right after I took a sip of the water on top of the amp and looked at the audience (most particularly, the girl in front I've written about lots of times here) just before we played the song, I knew what I was gonna do. So during the beat break that segways to the solo bit I transferred the strap to my right shoulder, locked the whammy bar, pointed to Aaron standing at the side of the stage and shouted "This is for you!". And precisely right after Anton's drumstick hit that snare queing the solo I put Wolfie behind my back and started picking like I've never picked before! The moment I finished the solo, me myself was taken aback about what happened. The people we're ecstatic! I scanned the audience though and found out that the girl I liked had took off just before I did it. The moment was sweet. Although knowing she took off, it wasn't as sweet as how I'd expected it.

So now, We're taking a week's vacation off from playing and hopefully we're able to make new material the next time we take to the stage. For me though it may not be at a DLSZ stage anytime soon. I hope to come play there in the future. It's sort of my stomping grounds. Anyway, Im now officially ineligible to play next year and so now I have to go to other ventures. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the support! Here I come world! Tally ho!

Featured music:

Before the break, we made a song about conservation. (Sh*t! I wonder why!) Here's the finished product. Luigi still thinks the song sucks. But I think it's an okay song just a bit rough on the edges. It features me on backing vocals and guitars, Alain on the "Kahon", Mayee on backing vocals and last but definitely not the least the trademark spontaneous scatting (Not the other word for "sh*t".. the genre!) by Luigi which, by the way, everybody found out to be pretty difficult to transfer to sheet music after! As for the quality of recording.. I'm Lo-tech! give me a break! anyway, hope you enjoy!

text DLSZ VOTE BATTLE FLA and DLSZ VOTE BATTLE SANCHEZ to 2951 for smart and 2851 for Globe and Sun subscribers

Ah.. yes it's november once again! Time for the fair.. and what else? The Battle of the bands! I was really pleased knowing that both my bands, namely FLA and Sanchez made it into the cut and I would just like to say that win or lose, I feel truly honored to be performing in front of my schoolmates, teachers and guests one last time. As everyone has already noticed, I am really passionate about the music that I play. And it is with this that it goes without saying that I guarantee to do everything that I can to put on a good show for the audience. So everyone out there, I implore you to cast your votes for FLA and Sanchez. And thank you in advance for the support!

Sasha?

This is the result of a random "Hot women" binge I went into a couple of months back. I remember just randomly saving pictures of women I found from the internet which I though was attractive. I didn't think at the time that it would bite me in the ass. Last week whilst I was clearing up my computer's folders for junk pictures I didnt need anymore, I stumbled upon this picture. It was captioned "Sasha". I proceeded to open it and I took a good look at it. And after over 6 months I was reacquainted with this picture. Then I was drawn by the woman's face. And I'll be honest with you, that head shot has a body... A perfect one at that! I just dont want to (Can't) show it! And as I looked back at the caption, it started a three day-long search for this mystery woman who went by the name "Sasha". I really felt like an ass for not writing her complete name. I combed the world-wide web one site at a time for hours on end that there were even times that when I stared at something white I'd start to percieve it as pink. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful in my valiant attempt to search for this woman. So after the third day, I finally called it quits. If any of you know this woman who eluded me, let me know!

Rustan's closed!

There are somethings you figured will never change. Well.. apparently this was not the case. The Rustan's conveniece store that was situatued at the nearby cuenca park has been the place I've been running to for all occasions. Wether it be simply hanging around at the park and coming in for a drink, or just when I wanted buy a snack it was always the place to go to. Everything about the store was so familiar. From the shelves to the salesclerk; everything has been the way it has been for over a decade. So it saddens me that it closed earlier this week to be replaced by a new conveniece store along with a different management. Im sure things wouldn't have the same feel to it like it did for years. Here's to change!
